"Alien Highway" (Vortex)

Description:
The Vorton has returned! And it looks as good as its predecessor too. This is the sequel to Highway Encounter and similar rules apply. Move the Terratron (a small pyramid type cone) which glides along the highway by pushing it through each of the stages until you reach the end of the road. Therein lies the Alien Inner industrial complex that must be destroyed!

Avoid the obstacles such as roaming nasties (or shoot them) and plan your route carefully. Some static objects can be moved by shooting them and placing them iat strategic points along your path.

Apart from the sides of the road, the game is in monocolour, however this does not pose any problems during gameplay and the graphics appear none the worse for it. Much of the graphics are well crafted and move well. The animation such as the Vorton's movements are similar to the previous encounter.

All in all this is a worthy successor to Highway Encounter and is just as addictive, albeit there is little change to the overall gameplay and the end goal of the Vorton's mission.

Object:

The ultimate objective is to delivery the small Terratron pyramid that you have been pushing through each level to its final stage.

This can only be done by shooting and clearing the way ahead, where many fiendishly contrived obstacles require either destruction or an alternative method of surpassing.

Criticism:
No real change in the general gameplay sadly as this will inevitably be judged aloneside Highway Encounter.

Based on it own merits however, Alien Highway is a surperb action/puzzler. Great movement, cool graphics and very nice use of sound.
