"Blade Warrior"
(CM)

Description:
Blade Warrior is a platform,
requiring the good skill of timing. Some of the obstacles
require the player to be almost pixel perfect. On
top of this, you have about 20 minutes to complete
the game: A digital timer can be seen at the bottom
middle of the screen.
Object:
Explore the many rooms/locations
and find scrolls and a number of other items in order
to complete the game within the allocated time.
Twenty minutes does not seem
to be enough due to the difficulty of some of the
rooms and chambers. Timing is a factor in many Speccy
games, and Blade Warrior is no exception! Timing and
positioning skills are a must, and essential practice
in several of the rooms is needed, otherwise you will
either run out of time, or mis-judge a platform and
lose a life.

Criticism:
Gameplay
is well calibrated and action is plentiful. The drawback
is of course the limited time in which to complete
your tasks. Many might think that the game is tricky
enough without the need to be penalised by a time
limit.
Sound & Graphics:
Nicely drawn sprites throughout
Blade Warrior and a consistant theme across the rooms
and chambers. Colour is slightly limited and rather
two-tone in many of the rooms, however the nicely
crafted backgrounds and enemies make up for this.
Sound is also good - especially
when you lose a life; each time you die a phrase in
speccy-speak is uttered- not sure though if this is
an AArrrrghhh! or if it is supposed to actually say
something... requires further investigation..
