"Atic Atac"
(Ultimate)

Description:
Atic Atac was a smash
hit for publishers Ultimate, who were building a nice
reputation for themselves at the time for originality,
good graphics, and quality gameplay. You have a choice
of character before you begin your quest- which is
an arcade/adventure in a maze of rooms - its handy
to have a map before you begin..
Some doors can only be opened
if you are carrying the correctly coloured key and
your life is monitored by a big chicken carcass on
the right information panel once the game starts-
superb.
Object:
Before you start the game,
you can choose one of three characters: A Serf, A
Wizard, or a Knight. Each of these characters have
a different advantage over the other when you play
the game, in that they can enter special passages/shortcuts
designed only for that character. I.e: Only the Knight
can go thorough the grandfather clocks that are placed
in certain rooms.
Find the key that will open
the ACG door which is positioned in the room at the
beginning of the game, to complete the adventure.

Criticism:
The
idea is to explore the many rooms, collecting the
coloured keys and finding certain object in order
to return to your starting room, enter the ACG doors
and complete the game. Not entirely easy, yet addictive
and great fun.
Sound is also well used and adds greatly to the game
as are the neatly constructed graphics and overhead
views of the many rooms.
Sound & Graphics:
The game lacks a decent number of
levels unfortunately, but what is present is enough
to keep you frustrated and entertained for many hours
- but ultimately happy in your purchase. I quite liked
this game: the graphics were clear and nicely animated.
The level detail was also well composed and the use
of colour was subtle. All in all, a good game- pity
about the level shortage though.
