Manic
Miner
1984 Gremlin Graphics

Quite
possibly the best known and loved speccy character
and game. This was published during the speccy's infancy
and it is still one of the best platform games produced
for the Speccy. Easily standing up to -and in many
cases surpassing- games created almost a decade later.
The follow-ups were no less exciting,
featuring miner willy in Jetset willy. A huge adventure/platform
where Willy could walk throughout the mansion and
explore any of the multitude of rooms before collecting
all the required objects in each room to finish the
game.
Varying difficulties are presented in
each room as you progress and a subtle background
tune which can also be disabled. Lovely!

Manic Miner
Jet Set Willy
Jet Set Willy II- The Final Frontiert
Manic
Miner
Venture through twenty screens collecting
the keys, bananas, ice-cream cones etc. You cannot
progress to the next level until you colleact all
and enter the portal.
Once all twenty screens are complete,
you must return to the beginning and complete them
again, only this time its gets harder.
But be quick; you must complete the screens in a set
time or your air will run out and you will meet the
great miner in the sky..
JetSet
Willy
The next Willy game. Bigger, better
and badder! Over 60 more screens, countless baddies,
good sound and very, very difficult, even with the
eight lives!
Usual story: Items scattered everywhere
and in some tricky places, but great fun. Not many
sequels outdo their predecessor, but this is an exception
to that rule.
JetSet
Willy II -
The Final Frontier
Sadly the same as Jet Set Willy, only
with more screens. No difference on gameplay- still
great, but then its using JSW. Published by Software
Projects and written by Matthew Smith. Still a classic
to this day. More versions of this game emerged but
were sadly only a reflection on the original.
